Sapa Vietnam lies in the very north west region of Vietnam & is close to the Chinese border. Along with the spectacular scenery of the Tonkinese Alps where Montagard hill tribes have lived for centuries. Trekking in this region you will come across the H’mong tribe people that live in the hills among this beautiful region. Sapa is a colourful town where you can see the locals selling their hand made crafts & produce in the markets.
I arrived in Sapa in the middle of December & it was quite cold & still wet. The dry season is from January to June with the best time to visit between March & May. I took an overnight train from Hanoi & arrived in Sapa about 4am in the morning. After some hot tea & a cold shower i was ready for my first trek. We wore boots & rain gear as it was still raining a bit, after lunch the weather cleared to give us some great views of the mountain ranges.
I would recommend a 3 day trip in Sapa to take in all of the scenery & local culture.
