Lisa Ling and her personal journey at Roy Thomson Hall

I had the honor of meeting & photographing Lisa Ling at Roy Thomson Hall last night.  After 3+ years working beside Barbara Walters on The View Lisa’s television journalism has seen her currently working for National Geographic Explorer exposing stories of humanity at it’s worst. Covering stories of bride burning in India and gang rapes in the Congo in Africa. “The reason I love this kind of work” Ling said ” is that I experience the worst of humanity, but every time I bring one of these stories to light I experience the best of humanity”.

Lisa plans on continuing working with Oprah for special reports on the new OWN network – Oprah Winfrey Network a joint venture between Oprah and Discovery Communications.

Toronto Wedding Photography | Vaughan Estates | Caroline and Neil’s Love Affair With Sharks

We recently photographed Caroline and Neil’s wedding in Toronto at Vaughan Estates. They first fell in love with sharks and then each other. Caroline originally from Switzerland became fascinated with sharks while scuba diving in Australia. Neil originally from South Africa became fascinated with sharks as a young boy.   While on vacation in Durban as a young boy Neil became fascinated with sharks,  after a series of shark attacks,  Neil would go down to the beach and watch the officials perform live dissections for whoever was interested. After meeting in school Caroline’s & Neil’s love affair began.

Today Caroline and Neil are devoting their lives to saving Sharks from the deadly hands of Shark Finners who catch the sharks & cut off their fins to sell to the chinese market. Shark fins are a highly sought commodity as the fins provide a gelatinous texture to shark fin soup which is sold anywhere from $50.00-$200.00 per pound. Neil’s website Neil4Sharks is dedicated & devoted to his ongoing study in shark conservation.

Caroline and Neil were amazing to photograph and there wedding had some touches that tied in their relationship. Caroline wore a beautiful necklace made with intricate sea shells and Neil’s tuxedo represented the Miami dolphins colours where they now reside. Elaine Birnbaum from GLP Event Decor & Florals did an amazing job with the decor to tie in all of their details.

Caroline and Neil you are both awesome! CONGRATULATIONS!
